Our roots go back to a time when craftsmanship and quality were at the heart of everything—values we continue to uphold with pride today. Our story begins with my grandfather, who spent 25 years working at a furniture factory. During those years, he developed a deep passion for the upholstery trade and gained the knowledge and experience that would eventually become the foundation of our family business.

In 1960, he decided to follow his own path and established his own upholstery workshop. What started as a small, traditional business has grown into a thriving family-owned company spanning three generations, bringing together skilled craftsmen who share a dedication to quality, attention to detail, and traditional upholstery techniques.

Today, I, Rosa Hendriks, proudly continue this family tradition alongside Jozeph Meijer and our experienced team of professional upholsterers. At Meijer & Visser Meubelstoffeerderij, we combine generations of craftsmanship with modern techniques and high-quality materials to give furniture a new lease on life.

In addition to Meijer & Visser Meubelstoffeerderij, I am also the proud owner of De Stoffeerdersunie. Jan grew up in the family workshop, surrounded by upholstery fabrics, traditional tools, and skilled craftsmen. Inspired by the extensive knowledge of his grandfather Rob and guided by experienced professionals, he developed into a versatile Furniture Upholsterer with a passion for quality and craftsmanship. Alongside his expertise in furniture restoration, Jan specializes in professional furniture cleaning, helping sofas, chairs, and armchairs regain their fresh, clean, and well-maintained appearance.

Who is Meijer & Visser Meubelstoffeerderij?

Meijer & Visser Meubelstoffeerderij is a traditional upholstery workshop where quality, sustainability, and custom work come first. I’m Rosa, the owner, and together with my team I give furniture a second life with true craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Which types of furniture can you reupholster?

We reupholster, among others, sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, office chairs, headboards, and ottomans. Both modern and classic pieces are welcome, as well as designer furniture and family heirlooms.

Where does the name Meijer & Visser come from?

The name Meijer & Visser was created through a collaboration with Meijer Stoffering. It also has a personal meaning: Visser is my son’s surname. This way, Meijer & Visser stands not only for craftsmanship and partnership, but also for family.

How can I request a quote?

You can easily get in touch via the contact form, email, or phone. Photos of the furniture help us provide a quick and accurate price estimate. After that, we’ll discuss the options together.

Can you also handle commercial projects?

Absolutely. We regularly work for hospitality venues, offices, retail spaces, and fit-out contractors. This includes chairs, benches, waiting areas, and custom-made solutions.

What do you mean by “12 ateliers”?

With “12 ateliers,” we mean that Meijer & Visser Meubelstoffeerderij works with a network of 12 upholstery workshops. This means there’s almost always a workshop nearby, we can work locally and efficiently, and it keeps communication and planning (including pick-up and delivery) smooth and straightforward.

Will I be dealing with you personally?

Absolutely. I often handle the first contact myself, help you choose fabrics and finishes, and stay involved all the way through to delivery of your furniture. That way you have one dedicated point of contact and always know what to expect throughout the entire process.

Do you work with customer-supplied fabrics?

No, we only work with our own trusted fabric suppliers. This way, I can be sure the materials we upholster with meet our high standards for quality, durability, and suitability for craftsmanship. It guarantees a long-lasting, high-quality result we can fully stand behind.
